Working with Our Streets Now to tackle public sexual harassment in sport

connectMyClub and Our Streets Now share a commitment to making public spaces safer for everyone who exercises in them. Together we've brought specialist Public Sexual Harassment — also known as PSH — education directly to clubs.

About Our Streets Now

Changing the law. Changing the culture.

Our Streets Now (OSN) is a national campaign that has led the fight to make public sexual harassment a specific criminal offence in England and Wales. But legislation is only part of the answer — OSN's education and awareness work helps communities, organisations, and individuals recognise PSH, respond to it, and report it.

Sport is a particularly important area for OSN. Runners, cyclists, swimmers, and other athletes regularly train alone or in small groups in public spaces, which can make them vulnerable. But PSH doesn't only come from strangers — OSN also highlights that harassment can come from within clubs themselves, particularly from coaches at the higher echelons of sport, where power imbalances can go unchallenged. OSN's specialist sport resources and workshops are designed to address both.

What we've done together

PSH Workshops for Clubs

Our Streets Now has delivered specialist public sexual harassment workshops for club welfare officers, giving participants the knowledge and confidence to recognise, respond to, and report PSH.

What is PSH?

Workshops covered what constitutes public sexual harassment, why it happens, and why it disproportionately affects people exercising alone in public spaces.

How to respond

Participants learned practical bystander intervention techniques — how to safely support someone being harassed, and how to respond if it happens to them.

How to report

Workshops explained the reporting options available, including how the connectMyClub ActiveSafe tool enables members to log incidents anonymously and share them with their local running community.

Built for sport

ActiveSafe — anonymous incident reporting for club members

ActiveSafe is connectMyClub's built-in tool for anonymously reporting incidents of public harassment experienced while training. It puts reporting in the hands of every club member, directly within the app they already use.

Members record incidents experienced while running, cycling, swimming, or training in public spaces
Reports are shared anonymously with local clubs via the portal, raising community awareness
An in-app incident map shows members where issues have been reported in their area
Members can also record positive experiences, celebrating safe and welcoming spaces
Available on iOS, Android, and web at no extra cost to any connectMyClub club
